Pursell’s majestic deco style design for the Federal Building at the 1933 Chicago World’s Fair is breathtaking. Futuristic, with shades of Fritz Lang’s 1927 “Metropolis”, the style and composition had a wide appeal evident in the “Flash Gordon” films of the early 1930’s, and the The Emerald City in “The Wizard of Oz” 1939. Echos can still be seen in contemporary poster designs. This is a superb poster.

The poster was found folded & inside its original envelope, it has never been opened or exposed to sunlight. The poster has been professionally cleaned and laid on Japan tissue. The fold lines are faintly visible but entirely consistent with the age and original storage condition of the poster. It is in excellent condition.
