Genre: Auto / Transport / Sport
Title: Favor Cycles, Motos “De La Belle Méchanique”
Year: 1937
Artist: PJ Bellenger
Size (cm): 38×61
Country of origin: France

This is the smaller, more manageable, version of Bellenger’s popular 1930’s deco poster for Favor (the larger version is bigger than a double quad!). The company, founded in 1898 was a strong player in the French market for motorcycles, mopeds and cycles until it finally closed in 1977.

The poster is in good condition. There is one small nick along the right edge (see image) but is otherwise free from creases, stains or abrasions. There is a narrow metal brace running along upper and lower edges to allow it to be hung. This is a classic design which tracks the transition by the manufacturers from pedal to motor bikes. It is a lovely example of advertising at a time when a car was beyond the financial reach of all but the most affluent.
