Marilyn Monroe and the contoured Coke bottle, each a C20th icon and both sources of inspiration for Andy Warhol. Celebrating the 2015 centenary of the distinctive bottle patent, this is one of a series of 3 posters under the “I’ve Kissed” tag line, the others featuring Elvis & Ray Charles.

The ad campaign placed a heavy emphasis on digital marketing significantly reducing the number of posters printed. This example from the French ad campaign is unused stock and is now rare despite being from 2015. The poster image is cropped from a photo with Marilyn and Jane Russell taking a break on the set of “Gentlemen Prefer Blonds” (1953).

The poster is in very good condition. There are some very slight edge creases and nicks, stabilised on the reverse with light archival tape. The poster is complete with no paper loss. The reverse side is blue, a treatment to provide waterproofing. At the lower edge of the poster is the health warning “For your health practice regular physical activity” (If this is distracting it could always be folded out of sight under the main poster before framing).

The overall condition is very good, an amazing poster, complete with bright strong colours – it is a real classic.
