A Dixon Scott photo produced as a tourism poster for the Travel Association. Dixon Scott’s work forms part of the collection in the UK National Archives.
These images were used extensively by the Travel Association in overseas promotional campaigns up until the late 1940’s. Not all the resulting posters were produced to such a high standard as this example, which I believe is an example of photograuve printing. Although it is undated, the high quality of the print, the font used in the lettering and absence of any Travel Association logo suggest this poster dates from the 1930’s pre-war period. The image is crisp, sharp & has a remarkable depth, showings an extraordinary range of traffic moving over Westminster Bridge. With this poster one can not only touch the past, but see it too.
The poster is in generally good condition with some small creases and nicks along the edges consistent with a poster this age. These are minor issues and would disappear if framed under a mount.
