Garretto was one of the foremost caricaturists in the 1930’s with designs and illustrations featured by “Vanity Fair”, “The New Yorker”, “House & Garden” and “Vogue”. His strength as a caricaturist is clearly apparent in this majestic design for Lord hats: simple and devoid of all detail apart from the central object, it is a classic. The design was first used in 1930 and then again by the company in the early 1950’s of which this is an example.
Printed by Alfieri & Lacroix S.A., Milano, the poster is signed and dated 1950. It has been linen backed and is very good condition. The colours remain rich and bright, the edges straight and free of any nicks, tears or abrasions. The is some wear and creasing to the linen mount in the top left corner but this does not impinge on the poster.
