Nimes’ Roman heritage is the focus of this iconic poster. The temple, amphitheatre, and UNESCO world heritage site, the Pont Du Gard are superimposed on a contemporary map. The message is clear: Nimes makes a mark on the map, the Romans knew it and so should you.

This enduring image adorns t-shirts, fridge magnets and all the other usual types of tourist bric-a-brac on sale in the town today. Imitation is surely the mark of the most popular and successful poster designs yet unlike the modern day tourist trinkets, this 1930s poster is one of the authentic originals – rare and very lovely

As shown, this poster has been folded. Two small holes have worn through along the creases – both are visible in the picture and I am happy to send high res. images on request. There are two small nicks along both right and left edges otherwise the fabric of the poster is in reasonable condition. The colours remain bright and strong.
