Genre: War & Propaganda
Title: We Stand Guard
Year: 1965
Artist: Valentin Viktorov
Size (cm): 54×96
Country of origin: Russia

A rare survivor of an original 1965 print run of 95,000, this art work by Viktorov makes a clear and forceful statement; both re-assuring and reproving. This is an excellent example of Soviet cold war graphic art – the message is unmistakable.

Considering the age, the poster is in good/reasonable condition. There are roll creases and one slight nick along the top edge. Some restoration work has taken place along the top edge: there are two pieces of tape on the reverse side which have been used to stabilise small tears. Some catalogue information has been written on the reverse – thankfully in pencil so no ink bleed-through to the front of the poster. The colours remain strong and bright and suggest it hasn't been hung in direct light, which would also be consistent with the roll creases. High res. images available on request
